Four Day / Three Night Walkabout

Travel lightly through the Grand Staircase and learn the ancient root skills of the hunter gatherers. You will carry about 5 pounds of gear in a cloth like the Apache, Hopi, Pima & Aztec while learning:

  • Edible & medicinal plants
  • Tracking
  • Primitive hunting ways
  • Primitive fishing
  • Fire by friction (hand drill / fire bow)
  • Cooking on an open fire
  • Cord from plant fibers
  • Techniques for sleeping warm with little or no gear

This course is designed to give you a deeper
connection & freedom with the earth.  You will challenge yourself but also find pleasure and ease in traveling lightly.  We will travel according to weather, what foods are available, appropriate campsites and student abilities.

Provided: Bag of staple foods, rock salt & water carrier

3 PERSON MINIMUM. $600 PER PERSON.
Individual bookings welcome although we will need three bookings minimum in order to conduct this class.

Equipment list for students:

Clothing - earth tone & quiet fabrics are preferred:

  • Warm hat & sun hat
  • Sun shirt
  • Wool sweater
  • Quick dry shorts
  • Pants (optional)
  • Sport bra for women (optional)
  • One or two pair wool socks
  • Well broken In sandals or shoes
  • 1 twin bed top sheet and one twin bed fitted sheet that can be cut up (neutral color)
  • 1 silk, cotton or thin material sleeping bag liner
  • Fishing permit (optional)

  • Age, sex and description of firmness level
  • Last time antibiotics were taken
  • Any form of diabetes diagnosed
  • Any joint pains
  • Any other medical issues or limiting conditions
  • Any fainting in the last 10 years
  • Current hobbies
  • Current job or profession
  • What do you hope to learn from the course
